Richardson ISD’s Memorial Park Academy is more just than a program - for many students it is hope for their future.
“I don’t think I can imagine my life without Memorial Park Academy.”
“Memorial Park Academy is an outstanding program.”
“This program will truly help you start a fresh, clean life”
Memorial Park Academy is the expanded choice program in Richardson ISD that allows students to earn high school credits while participating in a non-traditional school setting. It is a way for students to experience a rigorous, self-paced curriculum while working in a small group setting to ultimately receive a high school diploma. They may participate in graduation ceremonies with friends and classmates from their home high school campuses and their diploma will bear the name of their home campus.
Since opening in August 2016, 246 students have graduated from the program. For the 2017-18 school year, they are on track to more than double the number of graduates for their 2nd year. “Failure is not an option here!” said Bill Gallo, Program Director at MPA. “I couldn’t be more proud of what our staff and students have accomplished so far this year.”
“I am certain that if it were not for this program, I would not be where I am today and would have dropped out of school,” said Camila Tellez, Memorial Park Academy student. “MPA it not like a regular high school - this program is outstanding and it is obvious that the teachers care about our well-being.”
Memorial Park Academy reaches students who might otherwise not thrive or succeed in a traditional school setting. “I cannot imagine my life without Memorial Park Academy or Mr. Gallo,” said David Caangay, Memorial Park Academy student. “After 2.5 years of not going to school, I decided it was time to make a change and now I’m about to graduate. This is a program that helped me start a new chapter of my life and for that, I will forever be grateful.”
The experienced staff of Memorial Park Academy is dedicated to the success of our students and wants to see everyone succeed. For more information about MPA or to fill out an application, visit the Memorial Park Academy page. |
